# Archiving lots

In a similar way to the publication process there is an archiving process for the post-auction period.

Once the auction finishes the 'Archive Lot' lots button will appear.

At this point selected lots can be Archived and hidden from view of the bidders. You may wish to do this once an auction has finished to prevent competitors from seeing your sale prices.

However for a period of time you may also wish to leave the lots on display so interested bidders can see the outcome. We would recommend you do this for the remainder of the day at most, and then hide the lots by archiving them.

You can select the lots you wish to ARCHIVE, but setting the toggle 'Ready for archive' from white to green.

One the items have been selected, you press the 'Archive Lots' button shown at the top of the page, and the corresponding lots will be moved from the Published tab to the Archived tab.

You will see the badge showing the number in each tab corresponding to the status of the lots set to that status.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://manual.platformbid.com/platform-bid-user-guide/auction-management/managing-lots/archiving-lots.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
